Angela Warnick Buchdahl is an American rabbi. She is the first Asian-American ordained as a rabbi, and as a hazzan (cantor).

She was born in Seoul, South Korea, the daughter of Sulja Yi Warnick, a Japanese-born Korean Buddhist, and Frederick David Warnick, an American Ashkenazi Reform Jew. Her family settled in the U.S. when she was five, and she was raised in Tacoma, Washington. Angela was was raised in the Jewish faith. At twenty one, she formally converted to Orthodox Judaism/giyur. She is married to attorney Jacob Buchdahl, wtih whom she has three children. Buchdal is a German Jewish surname.

Angela’s paternal grandfather was named Robert Warnick (the son of Harris Warnick and Fanny). Robert was born in Montréal, Québec, Canada. Harris was born in Zvenyhorodka, Ukraine, the son of Hirsch Warnick.

Angela’s paternal grandmother was Phreda May Soss (the daughter of Saul/Srul Hirsch Soss and Crentza/Clara Silverstein/Zilberstein). Phreda was born in Washington, to parents from Bacău, Romania. Saul was born in Moinești, the son of Moishe David Soss and Raizel/Rosa Herschovitch. Clara was born in Tescani, the daughter of Meir Silverstein/Zilbershtein and Estera Yancovici.

Angela’s maternal grandfather was named Lee Sam-dal/삼달 이 (the son of Yi Seong-su/성수 이). Seong-su was the son of Yi Chun-yeo/춘여 이.
