MARINA, formerly known as Marina and the Diamonds, has released a trailer for her upcoming album, Love + Fear. The trailer includes the artist performing a monologue while she admires the beauty of nature.
She starts with, “I know it’s hard to be soft. I know it hurts to be kind. I know that when love is lost it’s only fear in disguise. But I still believe the world is beautiful and I still believe only the weak ones are cruel.”
Rightfully fitting the name of her new album, the poem transitions between images of love and fear. At one point, the singer talks about how people are connected, as “we all cry the same tears at night,” but then she raises concerns for mankind, as it is filled with war. “The missiles and the bombs sound like symphonies gone wrong,” she says.
MARINA ends the monologue with hope, however. “I can see the flowers now, and the greenery. I take a breath of air and I feel free. No longer too afraid.”
Love + Fear will be MARINA’s first album since dropping her “and the Diamonds” stage name earlier this year. It will include songs such as “Handmade Heaven” and “Superstar,” both of which she released just a few weeks ago.
The album, out April 26th, will have two eight-track collections for a total of sixteen songs. Days after releasing her new album, MARINA will kick off the UK leg of her tour on April 29th. She will then perform in North America this fall, with shows in Canada and the U.S. You can find more information here.
