ASBURY PARK, NJ (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Concerts East, promoter of the Skate and Surf Festival, has filed a lawsuit in an attempt to block the Bamboozle Festival from happening at the same venue only a few weeks before Skate and Surf.
Co-president of Concerts East Tony Pallagrosi told the Asbury Park Press that Max Cruise Entertainment, which promotes Bamboozle, is “attempting to confuse the marketplace by creating a festival that's the mirror image of our festival that's in the same time frame and in the same building.”
Max Cruise founder John D'Esposito was a former employee of Concerts East in 2001 when Concerts East put on the first Skate and Surf Festival. The next year D’Esposito started Max Cruise Entertainment, however, he continued to work for the festival as an agent aiding in “marketing and production.”
"The suit is groundless and has no merit," D'Esposito told the paper. "The matter will be handled by our attorneys in court."
Bamboozle has already booked nine bands for the three day festival including the Bouncing Souls, Thrice, Straylight Run and Alkaline Trio. The event is scheduled to run from April 29 – May 1.
The Surf and Skate Festival, which has highlighted similar punk and emo bands for the past three years has not yet announced who will be performing. Over its history Surf and Skate has drawn more than 15,000 fans over a three day period. This year’s festival is slated to take place May 13-15, just two weeks after Bamboozle. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
