The 2022 NYC Web Fest Nominations Have Been Revealed

June 2024 · 8 minute read

The nominees have been announced for the NYC Web Fest 2022. The excitement for this event is bubbling up as it comes closer, especially since it has been relocated and will be hosted in Miami Beach. We also previously announced the official jury panel for the festival. For the first time since 2019, this event will be held in person on November 11-13, 2022, where 40 web series and short films will be screened at the SandBox Theatre.

“We call this year our reunion on the beach!” said NYC Web Fest Founder Lauren Atkins. “We are so thrilled to be back together, meeting new filmmakers, and reconnecting with other creators who’ve attended the fest over the years in New York. We’re also delighted to be working with the SandBox at the Sand Bar + Kitchen, and our accommodation partner The Waterside Hotel.”

Thanks to the South Beach Group Hotels, NYCWF has partnered with their property The Waterside Hotel, located around the corner from the SandBox, and their sister location The Oceanside Hotel will host an Opening Night Cocktail Reception to welcome festival goers.

A total of 40 digital web series, pilot episodes, and short films from around the world have been selected for the NYC Web Fest 2022 and there are 27 awards up for grabs. Leading the nominations with a total of eight is King & Pawn from Hatchet Lake NS, Canada, and closely behind with seven nominations each are Pops from Moscow, Russia and Geomapping Love from Bromont QC, Canada.

About NYC Web Fest: NYC Web Fest has brought together a multifaceted diverse group of people from around the world to showcase the best of the web. Born in Cape Town and raised in Toronto, Lauren Atkins founded NYCWF in 2014, after recognizing there were several festivals showcasing digital series on the west coast, but nothing in New York. “Our goal is to make this festival the premier home for digital producers on an international level. An organic space where creators can showcase their talent, network with other artists, and learn from industry insiders,” said Atkins.

Are you as excited as we are about the ninth annual NYC Web Fest? Let us know all your thoughts on the nominees on Twitter @CelebMix.
